Kim Delaney, an American actor best known for her role as the character Detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue series for which she received the Emmy Award. She has also starred in dramas such as All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. Delaney is the sole daughter of a United Auto Workers senior executive and domestic worker was raised by four siblings. As a child, she dreamt of being an official in the courtroom. After graduating from high school and moving to New York in the 1980s and began to model, she was hooked. She was cast as an innocent child in the 1981 soap-opera All My Children. Delaney is well-known as an actress who has been involved in numerous television dramas, and TV films. Delaney has not lived a good or satisfying personal life. There were two failed marriages, and has struggled with alcoholism. In 2005, the actress was denied custody over her only son.
